House Keeping

With the end of March comes the closure of our local resort and snowboarding is typically over for the year. However with this comes the ending of indoor skating and the beginning of spring shredding outside. There really is nothing like hearing your trucks rip across the coping for that first crisp 50-50 of the year.

Chop It

I’m planning on getting a Cycle Electeic generator and regulator for the Doink. So I freed up a bit of space behind the battery where the big old regulator sat. Got the idea for a little storage spot, and found this plug holder accessory box. Chopped up the old battery tray and I think it’s pretty slick.

Spring, Just Around The Corner

The thaw is upon us, in a few weeks all the snow and ice will be gone and can start thinking about some riding, camping, fishing and outdoor skating. Few pictures to remind us that we'll be in the rivers and back on the roads in no time.

Big Doink Update

Have been plugging away on the Big Doink whenever I can get to it. After I pulled the top end for a look, I was pleasantly surprised to find everything in pretty good shape. Everything except the valve covers. Someone had assembled them pretty poorly, putting things where they shouldn't be, even throwing in a custom spring and as a result the rear rocker box had a blowout and is basically scrap. Found a replacement and hope it have the top end buttoned back up soon. Changed the tapped block o-rings and polished the blocks up a bit while the jugs were off, scraped and cleaned everything else. I scored a cool old purple paint set from Oldiron Parts online, fits perfect and I really dig the purple. Got some new Duro tires to try out from Fortnine at an unbeatable price, and installed new bearings in both wheels. Have been cleaning up the springer with help from a cool product Metal Rescue. The stuff is amazing and I plan to make another post to show how awesome it works.  Bit by bit I have been crossing stuff off the list, hope to have it ready for a spring ride.

Snowboarding

Snowboarding is by far one of the greatest things I have ever had the pleasure of enduring. Whether I am flying down the hill ripping intense hard carves or cruising the park and spinning off the jumps there really is no better feeling then being on a snowboard. What I personally like about snowboarding is the ability to obtain so much air time. When I am on my skateboard I find airs that are 2 feet in height to be incredible but when I am on my snowboard I can obtain airs of 40 feet. Snowboarding provides the rider with the ability to perform tricks that they would love to do on their skateboard but just are not obtainable. Some tricks I find much easier on a snowboard compared to that of a skateboard, for example the frontside board slide. These are some of my boards that are in my quiver and have been seeing lots of action. The 1993 Burton Air is one of my favourites the others are a 2010 Burton Hero and the other a 2012 Burton Hero.
